Values, when you really understand them, are the bedrock on which you build your business, your reputation, your strategy for success. The reason they are unchangeable is because they come from deep within who you are - as a person and as a company. That's why they can be so hard to define and pin down. But an agreed set of unshakeable, motivating and energising values is how you measure and define your goals. Goals not clearly linked to dearly held values will quickly fall away. As they should. Strive to achieve goals that glorify your values, and see how much more motivated and productive your team becomes.

This is a pretty good definition of what StrategyPal means by 'clarity.' The whole purpose of StrategyPal is to give you crystal clarity as to where you are now, where you want to be in the short- , medium- and long-term and to measure your progress along the way. After all, if you don't know where you're going, how do you know when you've arrived?
One of the most common failings in business is to split strategy and tactics as if they were separate principles. We plan and plan, gathering our teams together and motivating them with our vision and insights and optimism for the future. Then we put the plans on a shelf and get to work. The strategy gradually - and much faster than you might think - fades from memory as everyone gets stuck in to tactics. Strategic planning isn't a two-step process. It's a cycle, continuously moving between tactics and strategy and continuously adjusting both to changing realities. This process creates its own kind of momentum, its own kind of sustainability, and a fecund environment in which success can flourish.
