At StrategyPal we love that word: process. Often in business we're so focused on end results that we forget that results are a product of a process - and a cyclical one at that. We define values, set goals, develop strategies, engage tactics and achieve results. But in the process we often must re-define values, set new goals, revise strategies and devise new tactics to achieve greater results. Linear thinking will only take you so far. Loosen up the line and love the loops - it's all a living, organic process.

There's an easy one to remember! The point is: focus. It's ridiculously easy to distract ourselves from what really matters. As Robert Benchley once said, 'Anyone can do any amount of work, provided it isn't the work he is supposed to be doing at the moment.' So, don't wilfully distract yourself with being 'busy,' when you really know what it is you should be doing right this minute: the main thing.
Is this a grim prospect? Not necessarily. As Mark Twain said, 'The work that is really a man's own work is play and not work at all.' Find work that matters deeply to you, and commit to it wholeheartedly, then you can rephrase this: 'Nothing will work unless you play.'
